This year marks an incredible milestone for Satisfy Food Rescue—our 10-year anniversary!
Over the past decade, we have evolved from a passionate idea into a thriving organisation that has rescued and redistributed millions of meal items to local charities, food banks, and schools who have made sure it gets to those in need.
As we celebrate this journey this year, we reflect on the evolution of our logo—a symbol that has represented our mission, values, and unwavering commitment to our community.
The Origins: A Logo with Purpose
In the early days of Satisfy Food Rescue, our founding group envisioned a logo that would encapsulate our mission of bridging the gap between surplus or unsellable food destined for landfill and those in need. Raymond De Clifford at Letra Design Studio crafted our official logo. Back in 2014 we provided him with a very draft logo concept along with our vision, mission and values. He quickly went to work, and amazingly the first draft he presented to us was almost completely perfect.

The original logo concept and brief that we sent to Ray to work with incorporated:
A bridge – representing our mission of "bridging the gap" in food accessibility and the geographical significance of the Waimakariri river and Ashley river bridges.
A green background with a subtle recycling symbol – emphasising our commitment to sustainability and reducing food waste.
Buildings surrounding the logo – reflecting our deep-rooted connection to the North Canterbury community (though we made sure not to include high-rises, as they aren’t part of our landscape!).
A shopping trolley, fork, and spoon – symbolising food suppliers and retailers, as well as the people we serve.
Ray took these elements and created a clean, impactful, and recognisable logo that now stands proudly on our vans, signage, t-shirts and communications.

He took our bridge idea and turned it upside down, keeping the connection but creating a smiling logo which reflects satisfaction as per our name.
Ray’s comments when he delivered the design were, “ It's probably as far away from your brief as you can get, but it's cool and is a perfect fit.”
We totally agreed that it was perfect!
This design has served us incredibly well for a whole decade and continues to do so, signifying our commitment to effective, responsive, and respectful food rescue operations. We regularly get compliments on our strong branding with many people admiring our logo in particular.
Celebrating 10 Years
As we approach our 10-year milestone, we wanted to acknowledge our growth and impact with a logo to celebrate the past decade.
We turned to the talented Sian Phillips at Sugarloaf Design, who has designed a special 10-year anniversary edition of our logo. This design celebrates both our original branding and our 10 years of food rescue mahi.

Our 10-year anniversary edition logo continues to embody the principles that have guided us from the beginning:
Simplicity and recognisability – ensuring it stands out on our growing fleet of vehicles and digital platforms.
Sustainability and community focus – reinforcing our mission to create a thriving, strong, and satisfied community.
A refined, contemporary feel – symbolising our evolution and ongoing commitment to innovation in food rescue.
We are incredibly grateful to Ray for his early support in crafting our logo and to Sian for designing the special 10-year edition. Their creativity and generosity have helped visually define who we are and what we stand for.
Looking Ahead
As we unveil our 10-year logo, we invite our community—our donors, volunteers, partners, and supporters—to celebrate with us.
This logo is more than just an image; it is a reflection of a decade of dedication, collaboration, and impact. It represents the countless meals saved, the people nourished, and the vision we continue to strive toward.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to the next decade of Satisfy—stronger, bolder, and more committed than ever to bridging the gap and building a sustainable future for all!
